Kurt Busch was born on August 4, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He currently is single and lives in North Carolina. Kurt Busch is a third geneation racecar driver. He is the older brother of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. He started racing in the Dwarf Series at fourteen years old. In 1994, Kurt won Rookie of the Year for the Dwarf Series and won that championship the next year(1995).
Kurt Busch was going to be a pharmacist. In 1997, he attended the University of Arizona for less than a year before deciding to go back to racing.
Busch started racing in the NASCAR Southwest Series. He won Rookie of the Year in that series in 1998 and won the championship for that same series the next year (1999). Jack Rouch saw him drive in a race in the Southwest Series in Sonoma and was immediately interested. Busch drove in the Craftsman Truck Series for Jack Rouch the next year and won four races and finished second in the standings.
Busch went directly from the Craftsman Truck Series to the Winston Cup Series, bypassing the Busch Series. He got his first cup win at Bristol in 2002. In 2004, Kurt Busch won NASCAR's Nextel Cup Championship. He is often an aggressive and explosive driver and sometimes he is not very well liked by the fans, but he is a good and fast driver. He is currently in The Chase with one win, eleven top fives and nineteen top tens.
